The other main change that came between dry
seasons was the apparent decision to abandon Route 8 from
Nape
Pass
as a main part of the Trail.
With Route 912 as a more direct counterpart to the Mu Gia Pass routing,
Route 8 had dropped considerably in importance.
Route 8 remained in a state of general disrepair for the rest of
Operation Cricket. FAC missions were
periodically scheduled up to
Nape
Pass
to verify that nothing significant was developing
because of the decrease in FAC attention.
