Dr. Nina Gomez is a member of the UCCS Faculty and the widow of Leo Gomez, who had served under General Patton before being captured during World War II. She felt Leo would have been somewhat embarrassed by the special recognition for his having served as a Prisoner of War. She pointed out that he normally would respond with something like: We were only doing what we had to do.
Dr. Gomez said that characterized our gathering here today: We're only doing what we have to do.
