1967 TET Truce at Quang Khe  #2

This photo is a close-up of the point of land near the center of the second picture.  It vividly illustrates the masses of supplies being dumped on the shore for further movement.  In the days that followed the truce, we’d be battling this increased flow of supplies on Route 912 in Laos.

The beach area was marked by intensive activity. Small vessels and river craft were loading and off-loading. Hundreds of containers, baskets, boxes, and bags were clustered near the shoreline and large numbers of persons were observed. Many of the bags and baskets presumably contained food. Some of this activity seen here was unquestionably associated with the redistribution of this food and other non-military forces stationed in that general area of North Vietnam. It must be emphasized that this was not all bound for South Vietnam. The timely concentration of personnel and lightering craft to support this transshipment operation is reflective of the careful planning associated with this effort.
