When I flew combat in 1967 in O-1s and O-2s out of NKP, I was one of the FACs chosen to direct airstrikes in Cricket West, an area starting about 18 miles east of the Mekong beyond Takhek. An old French road headed out Northeast, then east, through a cut in the karst, probably past that spire at the left edge of the picture; perhaps by the spire near the center. About 20 miles east of the river, the Royal Laotians and Pathet Lao had front lines. I directed airstrikes by Zorros (Air Commando T-28s) and Eagles (RLAF T-28s up from Savannahkhet) against the Pathet Lao positions on a number of occasions.
