Camaraderie
Camaraderie is
part of what this annual gathering and the Class of 1963 is all about.
Looks like maybe Butch Verdier and Drue DeBerry are debating with Ev
Vaugn holding the flag on Drue’s side and many looking on.
A new coffee
table book on the Air Force edited by our own Drue DeBerry is due to hit the
stores in October 2002, assuming that those stuck on the boats off West Coast
ports get unloaded before long. Costco
has purchased more than 30,000 copies and likely will offer the large book at
the best price. The book includes
hundreds of pictures and numerous articles, including several by Drue and a
chapter by General Ronald Fogleman, former USAF Chief of Staff.
Here's
some info Drue responded with when I asked:
Ron
Fogleman wrote Chapter 14, "A Vision for the Future."
Bob
Venkus wrote a vignette on the 1986 "F-111 Raid on Libya."
I
wrote several vignettes including one entitled "Airlifting."
Jim
Gaston proof read my edit and saved me from a number of mistakes and his
contribution should be acknowledged.
Other
grads with chapters include:
Dik
Daso, '81, "Forging an Air Force."
Ken
Werrell, 60, "The Air Force in the Korean War."
Ron
Yates, 60, "Research, Development, Acquisition, and Logistics."
Mike
Ryan, '65, "Today's Expeditionary Air Force."
Other
grads with vignettes include:
Mike
Terry, ’74, Aerial Combat in World War I.”
Scott
Snider, ’02, “Black Thursday.” Scott Snider wrote this as a C/1C.
Joe
Guilmartin, ’62, “Frequent Wind.”
Fred
Gregory, ’64, “Air Force Astronauts.”
Mark
Wells, ’74, “USAF Academy.”
Jeff
Prater, ’75, “Air Force in Film.”
