WELCOME

On behalf of Reunion Chairman, Paul Lee, and Joe Wilson and Fred Thompson, who worked locally to set up this third annual reunion, welcome to Colorado Springs . We hope you will enjoy the beautiful setting, the solemn reverence of our Memorial Services, and the renewed camaraderie that has epitomized the TLCB's previous reunions. We are pleased you have joined us to celebrate new friendships and our dedicated service to the United States of America .

The idea for this booklet came from previous reunions I have worked on. Some items are information I gathered to motivate members to join us for the Fling in the Springs. I compiled other items to help local media understand that the TLC Brotherhood is a special group. I went to my Inspirationals File and picked from items gathered during these three years of TLCB interchanges on the net. Some I have grouped by topics, such as Our Flag, Our Honored Dead, Stories from Combat, etc. I have scattered others where they could fit on the page. I have provided minor editing, but most are pretty much as they came across the net. Thanks to Shadow for permission to use items from the TLCB Website.

I have tried to select items that represent our pride in the TLCB and in our service to our country. Perhaps you will find some useful in helping your spouses, your sons, your daughters, and your friends better understand why we still hold onto the values we stood for--and many of our friends died for in Southeast Asia so many years ago.

I hope you will find these an interesting review of exchanges we have shared and a few I've picked up from other nets of military veterans.   Many of these selections will remind you of the value of the new friendships made with brothers and sisters met through the TLC Brotherhood. Others will stir your blood, increasing your pride in being an American.  Some are poignant and will touch your soul every time you read them.

I alone am responsible for the selections and for any errors.

THE THAILAND-LAOS-CAMBODIA BROTHERHOOD

MEMORIAL PLAQUE DEDICATION

We come to this tranquil setting to honor the living and the dead, brothers

and sisters who answered the nation’s call so many years ago.

We gather here knowing sometimes this setting is peaceful—sometimes

it echoes with howling winds and crashing thunder.

We come remembering other settings in far away lands where peaceful days were

punctuated with the howling winds and crashing thunder—and the roar of battle.

We come in solemn reverence, walking among the final resting places of some of

the patriotic Americans who died in battles in Southeast Asia .

We think particularly of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and dedicate ourselves

once more to keeping their memories alive.

We honor all those who served in the secret wars beyond the borders of South Vietnam , giving fully of themselves at times when others fled and refused to answer the call.

We dedicate this memorial plaque as a continuing symbol of our service to country and our commitment to preserve the memory of our fallen brothers and sisters who didn’t return with us.

In the words of storyteller, Dylan Pritchett, “No one is truly dead unless they are forgotten.  Once people get in your memory, you can’t let them die.

They can never die once they are up here.”

We gather to celebrate the lives of our fallen brothers and sisters and to honor their dedication, patriotism, and service to the United States of America .
