Novelist Jimmie H. Butler will present a series of eight workshops to help both aspiring and experienced novelists develop and fine tune their writing skills.

Topics in this expanded 26-hour course will include: 

·        Plotting/Story Structure

·        Captivating Openings

·        Creating Characters

·        The Art of Dialogue

·        Common Problems

·        Recommended Writing Techniques­

Practical assignments provide the opportunity to put learning into practice.

These workshops are specifically designed to help aspiring writers gain the skills needed to develop and complete manuscripts and to help experienced writers improve their manuscript’s chances of getting published.

A new eight-week class in novel writing begins in late July 2003 and run for eight Wednesday evenings. Click here to see comments from other writers Jimmie has taught and/or whose writing he has critiqued or judged.

Tuition covers all classes, handouts, and a written critique by Jimmie H. Butler of six manuscript pages.

Early Tuition (postmarked by July 22):     $140.           

Regular Tuition is $170 if after 22 July.

JIMMIE H. BUTLER

After studying commercial fiction for several years with Paul Gillette, a New York Times best-selling author and Pulitzer nominee, Jimmie wrote two highly successful technothrillers, The Iskra Incident and Red Lightning­-Black Thunder.  He holds a Master of Professional Writing degree from the University of Southern California .

Jimmie is the founder of the highly successful­ Pikes Peak Writers Conference and served as the Director for its first five years.  He also helped found the Front Range Fiction Writers.

Awards and Positions

·        Crickets on a Steel Tiger: The Interdiction­ of the Ho Chi Minh Trail  1966-1968, a book-length report written at the Air War College , earned the Air Force Historical Foundation’s 1980 Award for the best aerospace report of major historical interest.

·        The Iskra Incident earned the 1991 Award of Excellence for Aviation Fiction from the Aviation/Space Writers Association.
